My Cantonese to English Translation:

有酒今朝醉 Yau Zau Gam Ciu Zeoi Have Booze by Early Morning Drunk

tung nin zau baat seoi, do fun ceoi, gin dou gau zai hei sai zeoi

childhood as early as eight years old, happy all the time, see a puppy start a continual chase

ye ye waa ngo zeoi hing de gei gau, maai baau faa saang buk buk ceoi

YeYe says to me that I most like to use coy sentences, to buy a package of peanut brittle

tiu haa fei gei, gaai bin waan haa seoi

jumping the airplane, on the sidewalks playing splash the water puddles

-----------------------------------------

ye ye zung gaau ngo gong ne yat gau (Chorus Sing 1 More Time)

Grandpa always taught me to say one sentence

yau zau ying goi gam ciu zeoi

have booze carelessly by early morning drunk

kau gei hai paai deoi, fu dou heoi, gin dou aa wu dou ceng heoi

no matter what kind of party, you really want to go, seeing an ugly woman still chase her

mai go him heoi, gei daai cung yau seoi

don't be humble and do nothing, at every event pretend to have money like water

---------------------------------------------------

lin ceoi man haa heoi gei do seoi (Chorus Sing 1 More Time)

continuously being asked how old are you

yau zau jing goi gam ciu zeoi

have booze carelessly by early morning drunk
-----------------------------------------------------------

haang nin yaa baat seoi, gam fei ceoi, ban yeng yi hoeng to leng jyu

now 28 years old, handsome well dressed, impressive perfumed body and clothes to grab a pretty girl

tung maai ziu aa ceoi, soeng soeng deoi, git gu cyut zi ceoi zo heoi

and settle with girl named Chui Ah Tui, a couple, at last hurriedly taking her to be a wife

yi wai seoi maan zin deoi, dim zi zoek seng gan zo lou heoi

and I thought that by year's end I would have nothing, for all I know she quickly follows other guys

haang nin luk sap baat seoi, yiu gwat dou ceoi, aa ge fung sap zung hei ceoi

yan dei zat loeng gau, sap sap seoi, ngo dou gut seng tan zo heoi

people whisper sarcastic words, trivial insults, I just swallow them and do not care

taan haa soeng zing, daa paai cau haa seoi

relax under double distillation rice wine, play mahjong pulling money out of dealer draw

The phrase " jumping the airplane " is the game called hopscotch " in some parts of the English speaking world.

Native Malaysian Joyce Lim usually sings in the Penang Hokkien Language.  Here is what a native Malaysian Youtube user

KEAN PHENG LIM

has to say about Joyce Lim.  "This Joyce Lim is from Batu Pahat, Johor State of Malaysia. Malaysian Chinese who speaks Hokkien Dialect can be found in Perlis State, Kedah State, Penang State, Teluk Intan, Taiping, Sitiawan ( Perak State ) Klang ( Selangor State ) Seremban ( Negeri Sembilan State) Malacca State) Most Part Of Johor State icluding Batu Pahat where Joyce Lim came from, Kuching ( Sarawak State) Kuantan ( Pahang State ). I am from Penang State and our Hokkien Slang or accent together with Perlis State, Kedah State until Taiping of Perak State are of the same accent, Different from the rest of Malaysia Including our Neighbour Singapore as a mixture with some Malay words".

Stephen Foster was 20 years old when he wrote these lyrics in 1846.  It is one of his most well known songs.  This song and the original version of "Alabama Rose" were probably derived from Irish and Scottish Polkas, a new dance from Europe in those days ( First Polka was probably written between 1830 and 1835 ; ref. Polka Wiki Page ).

I come from Alabama
With my banjo on my knee.
I'm going to Louisiana,
My true love for to see
It rained all night the day I left,
The weather it was dry
The sun so hot I froze to death
Susanna don't you cry.

Oh! Susanna, don't you cry for me
I come from Alabama with my banjo on my knee.

I had a dream the other night,
When everything was still;
I thought I saw Susanna dear,
A-coming down the hill.
The buckwheat cake was in her mouth,
A tear was in her eye,
Said I, I'm coming from the south,
Susanna don't you cry.

Oh! Susanna, don't you cry for me
I come from Alabama with my banjo on my knee.

I soon will be in New Orleans,
And then I'll look all 'round,
And when I find Susanna,
I'll fall upon the ground.
But if I do not find her,
This boy'll surely die,
And when I'm dead and buried,
Susanna don't you cry.

Oh! Susanna, don't you cry for me
I come from Alabama with my banjo on my knee.
