"I tend to learn 10 new characters, single words, and 10 pinyin words, and I don't learn the characters for the words. Then the next day, I revise over the 10 new characters and 10 new words and learn a further new 10 of characters and words and…"

"As a full-time student, I've been held to 10 characters a day, as a part-time, perhaps about 20-30 a week. But it very much depends on where you are. As you progress, it becomes easier because you start recognizing common elements."

"We never review characters in class. Mostly grammar. The only time we're tested on characters in for 听写 and homework. We do all of our discussion work and stuff in individual sessions. :lSo it's all self-study for characters."

Character Memorization Hey everybody! I was just wondering, how many characters are you expected to learn per day/week by your program/self?Personally, my teacher tests us 3 times a week, over 10 different characters each time. However, our vocab lists are usually around 50 words, with the words we're tested on chosen randomly. I've been looking to up the ante (about double),  but I'm wondering if that's really feasible. See More

I have an oral quiz on Thursday

20% of the material I'm to be tested over isn't covered in our book (or in our class, or at all). Fun stuff.I'm determined to work 长筒橡胶靴 into my dialogue, if it kills me. Anyone have any good vocabulary words related to the weather and/or eating out (restaurants)?Funny phrases especially appreciated. See More
