Learn Mandarin Online from Teachers and Students
A 同学 - tóng xué (classmate) of mine said this when talking about why he had to miss class and go to a training session for work instead.
这是 bull shit - zhè shì bull shit - This is bullshit.
I started saying this with my coworkers and they told me it sounded like something you might hear in Hong Kong as they're more likely to put words like this together.
I really like this phrase because depending on how you pronounce it, it can still sound like Mandarin, saying 这是不是 - zhè shì bù shì - which is probably not something a person would normally say but since you're learning the language, you could get a free pass.
Situation is this - you're in a meeting, something stupid happens. You say, "这是不(ll)是(t)". Chinese colleagues laugh, someone asks what you said, you reply, "oh nothing, just practicing mandarin, 这是不是."
