Chinese song for kids - 拔萝卜 Pulling out the carrot --儿歌

The song is singing about trying to pull the carrot out and the boy needs help from other friends, grandma, grandpa, cat, etc (I checked a lot of other videos, the characters seem to be different for some other videos.)

A very cute song telling childrens story about helping each other and the spirit of unity to accomplish something. (well, in here..pulling out a carrot haha)

the carrot looks like a big radish in the video though....

There are chinese lyrics on the videos,
here are the translations into English...

pulling carrot, puling carrot
oh no, oh no
it's not moving
grandpa, come quickly!
quickly come and help us to pull out the carrot!
grandpa, come quickly!
grandpa: I'm coming..I'm coming!
pulling carrot, puling carrot
oh no, oh no
it's not moving

grandma, come quickly!
quickly come and help us to pull out the carrot!
grandma, come quickly!
grandma: I'm coming..I'm coming!
pulling carrot, puling carrot
oh no, oh no
it's not moving
doggy, come quickly!

quickly come and help us to pull out the carrot!
doggy, come quickly!
dog: woof..woof! I'm coming..I'm coming!
pulling carrot, puling carrot
oh no, oh no
it's not moving
cat, come quickly!
quick come and help us to pull out the carrot!
cat, come quickly!
cat: meow..meow! I'm coming..I'm coming!
pulling carrot, puling carrot
oh no, oh no
it's not moving
mice, come quickly!
quick come and help us to pull out the carrot!
mice, come quickly!
mice: squeak..squeak! I'm coming..I'm coming!
pulling carrot, puling carrot
oh no, oh no
it's not moving

big carrot, pull it out,
everybody help to pull it out,
everybody help to pull it out!
the big carrot is successfully pulled out!

Hi Alan,

Sorry that I did not see the English translation in the post. Yes, you should post a few songs of your favorite:)

I have tons of songs on my website, you are welcome to check them out.

Thanks for telling me, indeed 胡萝卜 is specifically a carrot.
the problem is that I grown up watching videos of carrot instead of radish, hence it feels quite awkward to go with radish. :)

Thanks- I didn't add a translation as it would have been pretty much the same as Gen's in the actual post (other than the carrot/radish issue). I have translated and transcribed a few other songs, maybe I should post them...

Very nice Alan! Do you want to do some translation? It would be a good exercise for your Chinese skill, just a suggestion :)

Here's an attempt at transcribing it and adding pin yin, makes it easier to look up words that you don't know:

拔萝卜 拔萝卜 bá luóbo bá luóbo
哎呀呀,哎呀呀 āiyā ya, āiyā ya
哎呀哎呀,拔不动 āiyā āiyā, bá bù dòng

老公公,快点来 lǎogōnggōng, kuài diǎn lái

大家一起拔起来 dàjiā yì qǐ bá qǐlái
大萝卜 我起来了 dà luóbo wǒ qǐláile
哈…哈 …哈…哈… hā…hā…hā…hā…

In case you are interested, the 花 [huā] (which means 'flower') is there in 小花狗 [xiǎo huā gǒu] and 小花猫 [xiǎo huā māo] because they are multi-coloured. We would probably say something like "patchwork puppy" and "calico kitten".

By the way, 萝卜 [luó bo] usually refers to a radish,  and 胡萝卜 [hú luó bo] is specifically a carrot, which explains why it looks like a radish in the video :)

Cute little song- thanks for sharing! It is a similar idea to the Western tale (from Mother Goose I think) about pulling up a Great Big Enormous Turnip.
