Throughout videos she says Chinese for Mandarin.  There are many people who do not speak Mandarin in Chinatown NY ( and Flushing also ).  Most of these people speak Cantonese or Hokkien.  In part 2 of the video she defines eating breakfast pastries  点心  as dimsum, a Cantonese word.  Many Cantonese and Hokkien speakers can speak Mandarin but most Mandarin speakers can not speak Cantonese or Hokkien.
