Learn Mandarin Online from Teachers and Students
A designer friend Mauricio shared this link with me &, having no artistic talent myself, I thought it was awesome. I don't know the back story but I think it involves math somehow to make the shading process easier. But, anyway, it's hard to explain until you start playing around with it.
The 'brush' that I think is the most interesting is 'Chrome'. After loading the page, go to the top middle drop down box & select 'Chrome'. Then you can just click & start drawing things in the white space below. You'll soon see that as you make lines & shapes, it starts to shade in the areas in between. Very cool.
After drawing faces for about 5 minutes, I immediately starting messing around with Chinese characters. I think that the next time I am bored with character homework, I will probably bring up this site and start drawing there instead. It adds a fun, visual element to the otherwise boring review process.
Plus, since some of your have websites of your own, I figured you might want to make the occassional fancy-looking Chinese character to use as an image. (If you click 'save' it converts the file to a .png image in a new window that you can right click & save to your computer.)
I have included a few more characters I did below. I really want to see what you guys can do with the same tool. Upload your own character photos in the comments below.
