Short Bio - what's your story? What languages do you speak & why Chinese?
I grew up in China, and could speak fluently, but moved back to England and slowly forgot my Chinese, now I am trying to build up my vocabulary again. Update! Now living in China and my Chinese is getting there.

I posted this response to a question on Memrise about whether or not memorising vocab was enough to learn Chinese. So I thought I would share it here too :)

I have found the course really helpful. Before using memrise, my study was a bit haphazard and all over the place. But since supplementing my study with memrise, I have started learning chinese at a much faster pace. So my advice is stick with it and also supplement it with other forms of study.

I'll share my own…

Hey everyone!

I want to share my thoughts and some tips I've picked up during my own Chinese learning experience.

I haven't contributed to this site in a long time, the last time I did, I was plodding through language study on my own living in Brighton, UK (2010/2011). Now I am living in Beijing,…

I'm gonna go over some time expressions in this post.

Now lets look at weekdays, it's pretty straight forward.

Hi Jade -

Thanks for joining & welcome!

Looks like you've already jumped into a discussion on characters, which is great.  Here a few other things you can do to get started.

1) Join a group - perhaps the United Kingdom (and then you can invite your friends to join)

2) Try uploading a photo, video or blog post (best way to use the site)

3) Follow on Facebook or Twitter (to get new content updates)

Please let me know if you have any suggestions on how to improve the site.

Best,

Brandon
